A visitation conducted by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 was a pivotal moment for the Information Systems Student Association at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). They were able to attract the public through their program, ‘Digital Waste Center.’ This waste center has been developed since July.

This program allowed them to succeed in the Awarding Stage of the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPKO). This program involves 15 students and a supervising lecturer.

Septyana Retno Kinanty, the Leader of the PPKO team of the Information Systems Student Association, explained that the program was conducted in Tugurejo, Tugu Sub-district, Semarang. The optimization and digitalization of the waste bank were done by designing a supply chain based on waste management.

“The priority of this program is to empower the community within Tugurejo by launching the Waste Management Information Systems of Tugurejo (Sipsatu). This innovation also improves the data transparency concerning the income of this waste center, which was done manually previously,” Septyana explained.

The visitation, taking place in Tugurejo Hall, was attended by a representative from Belamawa, H. Anggi Maulana Rizqi, Lc., M.A. On that occasion, he interviewed the locals represented by MT. Munjaenah, S.E., the Administrative Head of Tugurejo Area, and the caretakers of the Mawar Merah Waste Bank.

Warm Greetings from the Locals

Anggi Maulana, another representative from Belmawa, has also visited the waste bank, which was named ‘Mana Lagi’ (lit. where else). Through the Sipsatu Website, the program is expected to be conducted by the locals.

“Through this visitation, I saw that the program was a perfect match for the locals of Tugurejo. This is an important point, and it also aligns with the proposed outputs,” he uttered.

In response to this, MT. Munjaenah, S.E., confirmed that the waste bank was a product of the PPKO team of the Information Systems Association at Udinus. The Mawar Merah Waste Bank itself was established in 2010, and it will later be the garbage center of Tugurejo. With this new waste center, the locals will be able to expand the potential of their waste-processed products.

“In addition, the Sipsatu website was also welcomed greatly by the caretakers of the waste bank. Nowadays, technology is basically everywhere, so it will be our pleasure to be taught how to operate the Sipsatu Website,” Munjaenah added. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
