Applied Hotel Management Student at Udinus- Joshua Cung
To a student of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), Joshua Cung, cooking was a passion and could be a fun activity. He often feels a sense of relief when serving delicious food to others.
According to Joshua, who was a student of the Undergraduate Hotel Management Department , seeing people enjoying his cooking triggered some kind of joy.
“I have been a fan of cooking since childhood. I myself pursue culinary art in high school. To me, it truly is a joy on its own to see people enjoying my cooking,” Joshua uttered.
Years later, Joshua decided to further hone his cooking skills in the Hotel Management Department at Udinus. According to him, cooking skills could lead one to different fields, including hospitality. This is because every hotel needs cooks. For this specific reason, Joshua chose the Hotel Management Department as a place for his studies.
“I eventually chose Udinus, as it was among the universities housing this particular study program. In the Hotel Management Department at Udinus, there are many things I learned, including academic theories, and their practical implementation,” he revealed.
Additionally, Joshua, who was from Jakarta, also mentioned that the department also provided its students step-by-step knowledge concerning the realm of hospitality. Furthermore, in the department, students were also given many means of preparation before they worked in the hospitality industry.
Implementing the Knowledge in the Industry
Joshua also admitted that he got to use the knowledge he learned on campus in his job. In addition to being a student, Joshua, who was born in 2004, also apparently worked as a part-time cooker at various hotels including, Padma Hotel, Pandanaran Hotel, and Norman Hotel.
“Currently, I’m working at Pandanaran Hotel. As for how long, I have been doing this for two years, with cook helper being my main role, even though sometimes I also work as a cook in certain cases,” he uttered.
With his job, Joshua is assigned to conduct preparation, cook breakfast, and À la carte, as well as cleaning. With his experience and knowledge, Joshua is confident to embark on his career as a professional.
