The final project exhibit is indeed a routine agenda for students of the Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) toward the end of their studies. This time., the exhibit was themed ‘Merupa Niskala,’ which showcased the works of nineteen students. It took place in the Gallery on the first floor of the H building for three days, starting from Monday, May 26, 2025.
The exhibit aimed to display various final projects worked by students. This provided an opportunity for students who had completed their final projects to showcase their creative expressions.
The Head Organizer of Merupa Niskala Exhibit, Athella Inaia Dhia Haretri, explained that the theme was chosen to voice the meaning of ‘immateriality,’ as well as a last platform for Visual Communication Design students to express their long and winding journey during their studies.
“With this exhibit, we want to pour every process we have undergone, like thinking, feeling, and embodying it, into a tangible work. Every process culminates into visual forms that can be enjoyed by visitors,” he revealed.
At the exhibit, the majority of the displayed works were Public Service Announcements and commercial advertisements. In addition, there were also many other kinds of works, like product branding or rebranding, books, analytical studies, as well as board games.
“Hopefully, participating students in this exhibit will graduate with the best possible grades. I would also wish for this exhibit to give inspiration, insight, and entertainment to both participants and visitors,” Athella uttered.
Serving as a Stepping Stone
The Head of the Undergraduate Visual Communication Design Department at Udinus, Dr. Sugiyanto, M.Kom., was present to deliver an opening speech, as well as cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the exhibit. He emphasized that final project exhibits are stepping stones for students to prove their abilities and talents before completing their studies.
“These works generally entail solutions for problems found by students during their internship programs. With Merupa Niskala as its theme, the exhibit is expected to inspire participants to pour their processes into tangible works,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Penulis: Haris.
