“If you cannot study abroad with your own money, try using your knowledge and accomplishments.” This meaningful principle upheld by Yolanda Marcela Binambuni successfully led her to success at the 2023 Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA).

Being successful in the IISMA program is truly a token of pride for Indonesian students. This also applies to Yolanda, as her journey up to this point has not been an easy one.

Prior to this, Yolanda had to undergo two selection processes, including academic and interview selections. She did her best to prepare everything. Moreover, Yolanda had failed in this program the previous year. However, her failure did not stop Yolanda from trying once more. Only this time, she would not make the same mistakes.

As the day of the announcement arrived, Yolanda could not help but express her pleasure as her hard work and dedication finally came to fruition.

“My success redeems my previous failures,” she uttered.

Yolanda will study in New Zealand for the next six months. Yolanda, an English student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), will participate in a student exchange program at a university known as ‘The University of Auckland’ as a representative from Udinus.

“The program will last around four months starting from July,” she explained.

This whole time, Yolanda claimed that she has not stepped in her footsteps in other countries, and this program will be her first time to do so through her dedication and commitment. Yolanda’s name has been listed several times as an accomplished student. Moreover, she once participated in a project as an inventor of an app named Inclusive Mobile Application of Intermediate English Grammar Course, which successfully acquired HKI.

Additionally, Yolanda is also fond of writing essays. Some of her essays could even compete in various international essay competitions. In 2021, she participated in an essay contest known as the International Essay Competition. At the competition, Yolanda managed to win fourth place out of 89 participants from three different countries with her essay entitled Hustle culture, Burnout Generation, and its Effect for Future Civilization.
