Students of the Senior High School of PGRI Laboratory Semarang were introduced to the concept of nutrition from the Giziku Baik app. The app was designed by lecturers from the Health Science Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). The app aims to support the nutrition fulfillment needed by teenagers.
The Giziku Baik (GB) app was designed as an output of two research projects conducted by two lecturers from the Health Science Faculty. They were Vilda Ana Veria Setyawati S.Gz, M.Gizi as the designer, and Arif Kurniadi M.Kom as the developer. The research was in 2021 decentralization SKIM research. It assumed the title ‘Teenager Stunting Nutrition Education Model Based on a Mobile Application with Family and School Approach.’
At the event taking place at the Senior High School of PGRI Laboratory Semarang, students were taught how to use the Giziku Baik (GB) app. Dozens of students were enthusiastic about being taught the importance of knowing nutrition status and other health profiles.
The designer of GB, Vilda Ana Veria Setyawati, S.Gz., M.Gizi., stated that this program would allow students to be more aware of their nutrition status. According to her, the app was important as gadgets had essentially become a primary thing for teenagers. Thus, counseling about nutrition can spread quickly and expansively.
“This app is a response to the problem of stunting program initiated by the government. In this case, teenagers are among the agents of intervention in this program. Students serve as double agents in handling nutrition, as they commonly have nutrition problems,” she stated.
There are numerous features in the Giziku Baik app for the user to know their nutrition. The primary feature of this app is nutrition status measurement, allowing users to be informed concerning the steps that must be taken. To know the nutrition status, users need to fill in numerous data relating to the Body Mass Index and stunting status.
In addition, there is also a feature allowing users to measure their knowledge, practical nutrition measurement, junk food exposure measurement, and monthly stunting education that can be monitored by users.
Meanwhile, the principal of the Senior High School of PGRI Laboratory, Nor Khoiriyah, S.Pd., M.Pd, stated that the app was easy to use. She also mentioned its simple but interesting design. According to her, the app was highly needed for students to be aware of their nutrition status.
“We hoped for other similar apps to be made, allowing teenagers to be aware of their nutrition status,” she hoped.
