Committed to developing the interests and talents of its students, the Humanities Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) attained two accomplishments in two different events. Those phenomenal achievements were garnered by four students from the Humanities Faculty.

These accomplishments were earned last October, with the first one being grasped by two English students, namely, Yolanda Marcela Binambuni and Petter Hans Heavenly. Both of them managed to win second place at the 2022 Bimits Science Competition.

Yolanda, an English student of the 2020 cohort, explained that they submitted an essay entitled ‘The Development of Phonetics Learning Media based on Augmented Reality.’ In her essay, Yolanda explained that the AR technology—which can combine fictional 2D and 3D objects to be seen in reality—could potentially be a more interesting learning model.

“Our idea emerged from the fact that there are many students struggling to grasp the concept of phonetics, particularly the speech organs. From this problem, we are committed to making a more comprehensive learning model by utilizing the Augmented Reality technology,” she explained.

Meanwhile, another accomplishment was brought by two Hotel Management students of the 2021 cohort, namely, Theresia Viola Ratu Rosari Prasetyo and Oktavia Ayu Fadilah. Those two students managed to emerge in second place at the Student Culinary Competition held by the Dafam Fortuna Hotel Yogyakarta last October.

Oktavia stated that the competition employed the theme of a Yam-based Cooking Competition. Through their remarkable creativity, they successfully emerged in second place by presenting their cooking, Laksa Noodle Served with Purple Yam.

“It is indeed a token of pride to make a name for our campus in a national event, hopefully, we can do our best in the upcoming competitions. Through this event, we hope for our cooking to significantly improve,” she concluded.

The campus will appreciate its accomplished students, be they nationally or internationally accomplished. One of many ways to appreciate these students is through scholarships, which may support their academic needs. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
