Students who participate in student exchange programs could open the opportunity to extend their insight in a positive way. Meuthia Cita Sejati (22), an English student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), was one of those students.
Mutia admitted that she had been interested in being an exchange student since high school. She stated that by participating in the program, one might open a new and positive perspective. “I am glad that I was qualified to participate in this foreign student exchange program. Coincidentally, the students of the English Department had Korea as their country in this program, which was the country I had an interest in. Through this program, I could oversee how the foreign education system works,” she explained.
Mutia encouraged her fellow students to keep an eye on their Grade Point Average (GPA) to be above 3.5. During her stay in Korea, Mutia was impressed by the fact that Koreans lived in an orderly manner, with being on time seen as an obligation. “This is because Korea is a first-world country. Almost everybody in the country abides by the rules and comes on time; some of them even come five minutes earlier before the meeting time.,” Mutia, born on November 4, 1998, in Lampung, shared.
Furthermore, Mutia also recommended the English Department at Udinus to student candidates. Apparently, in this Department, the students will also be pushed to learn various useful skills in addition to English-related courses. “Not only will we learn English, but there will also be some courses that could enhance our talents, including Journalism, Entrepreneurship, Graphic Design, Cinematography , and the list goes on,” she revealed.
During the current pandemic times, Mutia utilizes her time to open various online shops. One of which is the reseller of Semarang food which could generate Rp. 2.5 million in monthly turnover. “Initially, I only established this business to kill time as money does not come on its own. Despite only serving as a reseller , Alhamdulillah, I could at least gather additional living for myself,” she concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
