Indonesia is among many countries interested in the potential and amusement possessed by the E-Sports industry. The industry is now valued at billions of dollars and will approximately increase in the upcoming years. The majority of E-sports teams in Indonesia focus on mobile games, even though PC gamers are still prevalent.

Currently, Mobile E-sports Industry in Indonesia has developed at a rapid rate. The E-Sports players in Indonesia are dominated by youth. The government has even acknowledged and supported the implementation of the E-Sports program.

With that being said, various universities and colleges in Indonesia have provided and established communities and student activity units relating to the E-Sports sector to produce talented athletes. Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) is among those universities as Udinus has partnered with Indonesia E-Sports Association (IeSPA) since 2018.

The E-Sports community, located on the fifth floor of the D building at Udinus, has achieved countless accomplishments. Those accomplishments were earned through several video games offered by the community including, first place at the Valorant FTI E-Sports Championship, first place at the Mobile Legend Veteran League, and second place at Tidar Cup Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBGM).

“We have attained many achievements and there are 6 kinds of games accommodated by the E-Sports Community at Udinus namely, Mobile Legend, Valorant, Free Fire, PUBG Mobile Wildrift, and Dota II,” Michael Rivandiego, the Leader of the E-Sports Community for the 2022/2023 period, explained.

Furthermore, Andre Geovanno Tan, the secretary of the E-Sports community at Udinus, added that they routinely engaged in routine matches and tournaments to enhance their skills and solidarity. The community also provided its members with various benefits such as new relations, an E-Sports lab equipped with gaming tools, and private Wi-Fi.

“The members will also get scholarships up to 70% on the condition that they could emerge as champions in regional competitions. In addition to that, the members could also be future E-Sports players with limitless potential and be noticed by various famous E-Sports teams in Indonesia,” Andre explained

In the community, the members are not only taught to improve their skills and strategy in playing video games but their attitudes and characters may also be a concern. Not only does this community aim to produce students with incredible gaming skills, but it also instructs them to be professional E-Sports players
