The Annual Creative Advertising Awards (ACA Awards) was once again hosted. This event primarily taught participants about marketing theories and creating an advertisement. The ACA Awards itself took place on the sixth floor of the I building at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus).
The ACA Awards was themed ‘Recognizing the Best Educational Marketing with Creative Award Categories.’ This event is an annual agenda hosted by the Department of Undergraduate Management at Udinus in the form of a practical assessment of marketing management. The event was attended by hundreds of students several days prior. At the ACA Awards, students saw and appreciated their videos.
On that occasion, Imam Nuryanto, S.E., MM., the head of the committee, stated that the ACA Awards aimed to educate students concerning marketing theories and their implementation on promotional media, including commercials, which could be uploaded on YouTube, Instagram, and other social media platforms. In addition, students who took the Marketing Management course were also obliged to make advertisements in the form of videos concerning the products of a small business or any other product on the market. They had to create those ads from scratch, which may include several steps, namely, writing a storyboard, shooting, and editing. Those ads must not exceed a minute.
“Through the ACA Awards, students will be able to open their mindsets always to be creative, aware of the importance of promotion, and helpful toward small businesses in enhancing their products’ images,” he added.
Imam then further added that the 2023 ACA Awards could garner 158 promotional videos, which also serve as assignments for the Marketing Management Course. Out of all 158 videos, only 58 of them fulfilled the criteria. Those videos would later be selected by the judges, and the top 30 videos would be nominated in six different categories, with five nominees each.
“There are six categories of the best ad videos, including Best Product Label, Best Package, Best Brand Name, Best Advertising, Best Visual Effect, and Best Communication,” Imam explained.
Meanwhile, Prof. Vincent Didiek Wiet Aryanto, MBA., Ph.D., the Dean of the Economics and Business Faculty, gave an appreciation toward the event. According to him, the ACA Awards could push and support students’ creativity.
“I hereby appreciate this event as students will be able to garner knowledge concerning marketing theories. Through this event, they will also be able to hone their creativity in making a brand and other marketing aspects,” he uttered.
Ultimately, six promotional videos emerged as the best of their respective categories, including Sankara Coffee (Best Brand Label), Cheers Coffee (Best Package), CJ Coffee (Best Brand Name), Cireng Semarang (Best Visual Effect), Shalda (Best Communication), and Budrex (Best Advertising).
