In an attempt to do good deeds in the holy month of Ramadan 1444H, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) conducted a social service in the form of a rice giveaway in front of the E building on Friday, April 14th, 2023.
A total of five tons or a thousand bags of rice with 5kg each was donated to underprivileged families within the campus area and many other regions in Semarang, particularly in Pendrikan Kidul and its surroundings.
The social service was symbolically opened by Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs. In her speech, Dr. Kusni hoped for the social service to be utilized wisely by the locals. The social service was conducted as a form of caring toward our surroundings, especially to underprivileged ones. At the social service, the campus involved various campus organizations to take part.
“We used ‘Social Service Presented by Activists from Udinus’ as the topic for this social service to give our students that it is important to be caring toward our surroundings. Hopefully, this event could help and benefit the locals,” she uttered.
On the same occasion, several prominent figures also made an appearance, including Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T. (the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau), Sarju S.Kom., M.M. (the Head of the General Bureau), several representatives from the Student Executives, and Student Regiment of the Batalyon 948 Macan Kumbang.
The annual social service was warmly welcomed by Tati Trianingsih, S.H. (the Chief of Pendrikan Kidul). Representing all the locals, she expressed her gratitude toward the campus. Not only did the service help the locals, but it also may benefit the campus in terms of good deeds. This event could serve as proof that students were not only academically good but also held a sense of morality toward the locals.
“Through this routine program, it is expected for the campus and locals to live in harmony. Moreover, the campus will later establish a new faculty,” Tati hoped.
Throughout the holy month of Ramadan 1444H, the campus has also conducted community services both for students and locals, namely food giveaways for iftar for 30 days straight at two mosques on campus. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
