Annually, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) always focuses on striving to improve its quality to give the best possible services to students. This improvement in quality led the campus to be regarded as one of the top ten best private universities in Indonesia according to the 2023 Webometrics.
The ranking was released by Webometrics in accordance with the Best Public and Private Universities in the World. Webometrics itself is an institution focusing on ranking universities or college institutions. It was initiated by a company named Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC). For additional information, the CSIC is among the biggest public research institutions in Spain, which was founded in 2004.
The ranking conducted by Webometrics aimed to promote open access to knowledge produced by college institutions. This year, there are 31.000 universities from 200 different countries ranked by Webometrics.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., the Chancellor of Udinus, expressed his pride in the campus for becoming one of the best private universities in Indonesia. According to the chancellor, this accomplishment was a product of the dedication of the academic community to improving the quality in various aspects.
“With the ranking issued by Webometrics, hopefully, Udinus can maintain its position of being the 8th best private university in Central Java. With this accomplishment, we hope for Udinus to contribute to the improvement of education in Indonesia,” he emphasized.
An Improvement Over Last Year
At the beginning of 2023, Webometrics released a ranking of all universities in the world. They used various aspects in ranking these universities, including Presence, Visibility, Transparency (or Openness), and Excellence (or Scholar). This year, Udinus successfully surpassed two universities in contrast to 2022.
Last December, Udinus was in the tenth position and the 3.412th in the world. However, in February 2023, Udinus improved and claimed the eighth position and the 3.3371st in the world. In addition, Udinus could maintain its first position in Central Java.
Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M. Kom., the Vice Chancellor IV of Research and Partnership Affairs, explained that the ranking indicated that Udinus possessed among the best scientific and indexed publications. The research is also supported by the constant use of technology, as well as good national and international ranking.
“We will always push faculty members to innovate and improve their number of scientific publications. From those publications, the general public will later be benefitted,” Dr. Pulung emphasized.
Udinus has produced various innovations by utilizing technology, including the Udinus Campus Electric Gamelan (E-Gamelanku), the Udinus Campus Chess Robot (Rocaku), the Si Warik Animated Show, and the Sekar Nuswantoro Robot. Those innovations could improve the quality of education in Indonesia and benefit the public. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto : Humas Udinus)
