Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) collaborated with AKJ Basketball Semarang to find new talents through national competitions. 72 teams from different regions in Indonesia were participating in the AKJ X Udinus basketball competition in 2023.
The players' enthusiasm was evident through the bustling atmosphere at the matches. The competition took place at three different venues: Udinus Sprort Center (USC), Satria Sport Arena, an Sumber Waras Sport Arena or Known as Knight Stadium. The tournament took place for more than a week, from June 12th to June 20th 2023.
Tirza Octyaputri, the head organizer, shared that the event featured six age-based groups, ranging from 8 to 18 years old. Notably, teams from various regions, including Java Region, Bali, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta, participated in the competition.
“In order to support athlete’s experiences, we give full facilities to all students from different groups of age, so that there will be more athletes in the Indonesian basketball sports branch,” said the alumna of the Udinus basketball organization.
The excitement that was reflected by the fans was very bright throughout the whole tournament which began from the selections phase until the final stage. The whole stadium was full of fans cheering the players to encourage them.
Meanwhile, The Vice-Chancellors III of Student Affairs of Udinus, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., positively welcomed the national basketball competition. She said that the event could also be a form of promotion toward Udinus as a private college that gave scholarship facilities to amazing athletes.
“We have prepared scholarships for all winners of each group, we will also grant more prizes to the best players in this competition. Udinus awards its athletes that achieved in both national and international events”. Stated Dr. Kusni.
