THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES AT UDINUS OFFICIALLY ESTABLISHED A GERMAN CORNER SERVING AS A PLATFORM TO LEARN GERMAN CULTURE!

Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) officially opened the ‘German Corner’ with the help of Goethe-Institut Indonesien on the third floor of the G building. Students in the Humanities Faculty can now utilize this facility to learn German culture.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony done by Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom (Vice Chancellor IV of the Research and Partnership field at Udinus) marked the establishment of the German Corner. At that ceremony, Prof. Pulung was accompanied by Axel Grimpe (The Expert on Skilled Workers Migration Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand for Goethe Institute. Additionally, Dr. Raden Arief Nugroho, S.S. (The dean of the Humanities Faculty at Udinus), The Heads of Study Programs, lecturers, and new students within the faculty also made an appearance on the scene. The ceremony was conducted on the first day of the 2023 Dinus Inside Event.

On that occasion, Prof. Pulung welcomed the establishment of German Corner wholeheartedly. According to him, this served as an attempt for Udinus to introduce its students to German culture. Moreover, the opening of ‘German Corner’ might also allow students to walk their careers in that European first-world country.

“We are aware that Germany possesses a large number of workforces, and hopefully, Udinus could send a student to participate in an internship program or a graduate to work in various fields one day,” he highlighted.

Meanwhile, the dean of the Humanities Faculty added that German Corner could also function as a platform for students to participate in a German language test. So far, Udinus has organized the German language test four times and tied a partnership with Goethe-Institut Indonesien.

“Several times prior, we successfully organized a B2 test, and that was the minimum standard for us to study and work in Germany. For further information, you could come directly to our newly established German Corner, and do not be hesitant to ask,” The dean encouraged.

As the representative of Goethe-Institut, Axel Grimpe was glad with the formation of German Corner in this faculty. In addition, he added that this was a wonderful idea to give students an insight into German culture.

“I hereby express my gratitude to Udinus, particularly the Department of Humanities. Hopefully, this facility could induce interest in students to pursue their careers in our country,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
