Community service is one of the aspects included in the university’s Tri Dharma. To convey its concern to the public regarding personal health and conduct community service, the Faculty of Health Science at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) formed an Integrated Coaching Post (Posbindu) for Non-Infectious Diseases (PTM) and Free Medication for the public, particularly those who resided in Pendrikan Kidul. The service was conducted at the C building courtyard on Friday, October 20, 2023.
The fact that community service is among the most crucial aspects of the Tri Dharma philosophy pushed the Health Science Faculty to show its concern toward community health through the Integrated Coaching Post (Posbindu) for Non-Infectious Diseases (PTM). Additionally, they also hosted a Free Medication program for the residents of Pendrikan Kidul.
The post ran enthusiastically as many locals were seen taking their medication at that program. The Integrated Coaching Post (Posbindu) was conducted in the courtyard of the C building.
Dr. Drs. Slamet Isworo, M.Kes., the Head of the Environmental Health Study Program at Udinus, explained that the post was a routine event held by the Health Science Faculty. On this occasion, Dr. Slamet Isworo held the position of the Head Organizer of the post.
“This post has never been a routine event, but looking at the enthusiasm omitted by the locals, we would like to organize this post more routinely. In addition, this post also serves as an integration between faculty members and students in an attempt to conduct community services,” he explained.
He also revealed that the post also tied collaboration with the Campus Clinic with several services offered at the post, including Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement, Blood Sugar check, Gout, and Cholesterol inspection, as well as free medication.
Despite only being hosted for a day, Dr. Slamet Isworo stated that the locals were interested in attending the post, which showed the high-level enthusiasm radiated by the locals. “Initially, we did not aim to get many patients, but there were fortunately many patients who came to today's post,” he revealed.
To attend the post, the locals were only obliged to bring their identity cards for registration purposes. After undergoing a series of inspections, the doctor would later instruct whether the locals needed further medication or not.
“Hopefully, the post could be hosted more consistently and benefit the public,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Humas Udinus)
