In the current age of technological advancements, there are several aspects that need adjustment, one of which is marketing strategy. In an attempt to find the proper strategy to market the ‘Si Warik’ video game, the Department of Applied Animation at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) held a workshop themed ‘The Strategies for Marketing Video Games in the Era of Industrial Revolution 5.0’ on Monday, October 16, 2023.
The workshop mainly discussed digital marketing strategy, video game trends, and video game marketing through digital platforms. Glenn Andrenorma, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sidji Jaya Abadi Ltd., was present as the speaker at the workshop. Sidji Jaya Abadi Ltd. mainly served as a game and app developer, including gamification for business purposes. On that occasion, Glenn presented insight regarding video game development revolving around Indonesian local culture.
During his presentation, Glenn explained that there were several methodologies, including trend research, modelling, keyword research, and app activation to the Play Store. Trend research itself is divided into three types, namely based on goals, social media, and the Play Store top charts.
“The modeling will utilize the store listing attribute or keywords from competitors, which functions as a model,” he explained.
Dr. Khafiizh Hastuti, S.Kom., M.Kom., the Head of the Animation Study Program, mentioned that roughly 200 participants attended the workshop, consisting of Animation and Informatics students.
She revealed that this workshop served as an attempt to give insight directly from the experts regarding video game or animation marketing strategy; thus, they could strive in the global market.
“Hopefully, Udinus could produce both 2D and 3D video games with good quality and global competitiveness,” she hoped.
