The quality of faculty members at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) will keep improving as more and more faculty members achieve their doctoral degrees in Communication Science.
Recently, a faculty member at Udinus by the name of Dr. Lisa Mardiana S. Sos., M.I.Kom successfully earned her doctoral degree. Dr. Lisa completed her doctoral studies at Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta.
This new addition of doctors will improve the Department of Communication Science to be even better. Dr. Lisa claimed her doctoral degree through her dissertation entitled “Television Media Disruption (Strategic Management Study in Maintaining the Viability of Ecological Condition in the Broadcasting Industry in Indonesia)."
Her dissertation mainly discusses changes that have happened in the media ecosystem as a form of media disruption identified through the ecological media theory. Additionally, it spotlights the strategic responses conducted by the television media industry in Indonesia in facing the disruption, as well as attempts by the television media to innovate and transform.
“I have also constructed a strategic management model developed by the Indonesian broadcasting media industry, particularly television, in managing and responding to the disruption. In this research, I used the mixed method with a case study approach on television and broadcasting media in Indonesia,” she explained.
To support her dissertation, Lisa had been looking for sources from various stakeholders in the television industry, including the Broadcasting Media Management, the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, and the Indonesian Advertisement Practitioners. Not only that, but Dr. Lisa also collected several Indonesian audience samples.
“Through an online questionnaire, I managed to gather 3.617 respondents from various regions in Indonesia,” she revealed.
Dr. Drs. Abdul Syukur, M.M., the dean of the Computer Science Faculty at Udinus, was proud and congratulated Dr, Lisa for her accomplishment. He would like to expect other faculty members in the Computer Science Faculty to walk in her footsteps.
“I hereby congratulate Dr. Lisa Mardiana S. Sos., M.I.Kom., for her newly obtained doctoral degree. Hopefully, this very accomplishment could heavily contribute to improving the quality of our education system, particularly in the Department of Communication Science,” the dean uttered.
