The Department of Communication Science at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) provided a platform for students taking the Music Communication course to showcase their musical performance. The event was hosted in the form of a mini-concert entitled MakJeGaGigs for the second time on Monday, December 18th, 2023, in the auditorium located on the third floor of the E building.

There were three bands featured at MakJeGaGigs, including Forfun, Slit, and Gmoon, with their original songs being performed on stage.

Forfun with their four members presented a song entitled Terima Kasih, which would later be released in the end of December. Moreover, Gmoon with six band members showcased their song entitled Tanpa Arah, which tells a story about accepting one-sided love. Meanwhile, Slit with five band members, the last performer, performed their song entitled Be the One.

Alya Rahmah, the person in charge of MakJeGaGigs, mentioned that this event was the continuation of the first volume of MakJeGaGigs. Despite being a continuation, there were several differences between those two, including the event venue.

“The differences lie in the venue and the featured performers. The second volume of MakJeGaGigs is hosted on the third floor of the E building, and we arranged the show in a way that we could feature tenants. Also, we would like to concept this show to be better by featuring DJ Yai as a guest star,” she explained.

Furthermore, she explained that, during the preparation, they collaborated with the Communication Student Association. With less than two weeks, she and the team could handle every problem they encountered.

“There were, however, several problems, including the venue availability, the number of performers, and many more. In the first volume, the schedule may not be as tight as this time. Despite that, we could essentially go through all those problems and successfully organize the event,” she continued.

With more than 174 participants, Alya hoped for this event to trigger the next volumes to be better.

Swita Amalia Hapsari, M.I.Kom., the Coordinator of the Music Communication Course, planned for a similar event to be hosted by other students. Thus, the event is not limited to students majoring in Creative Art Communication but also for other Communication students to express themselves.

MakJeGaGigs serves as a platform for Communication students to express themselves, particularly for those who are passionate about music,” she emphasized. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Dok, Wartadinus)
