At the beginning of the 2024 Dinus Festival (Dinusfest), Dinus Badminton Cup VI was hosted for high school students. Dozens of high schools dispatched their best athletes to compete in that prestigious national event.
With a total of 150 participants consisting of 60 high school athletes and 20 college athletes, Dinus Badminton Cup VI takes place from January 22nd to 25th, 2024. The competition is divided into two categories and eight competition groups, including high school men’s single, high school women’s single, and college men’s double. The competitive nature of every group was apparent, and all participating athletes were able to showcase their best performances.
Alif Agsakli Haresta, the head of the committee, explained that the competition served as a platform to hone the skills possessed by participants. Moreover, it also functioned as a way to garner talented young badminton athletes. According to Alif, the participants sparked immense enthusiasm for competing in this event.
“In Indonesia, Badminton is among the most popular sports. Based on our understanding, we saw that the participant could hone their skills, making this competition even more competitive,” he explained.
Encourage Young Athletes to Hold the Sense of Sportsmanship
Dinusfest itself is a series of contests aimed at high school students. In addition to contests, there are also expos and webinars hosted by Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). Moreover, dozens of contests are also hosted specifically aimed at college students.
In his speech, Candra Irawan, M. Kom., the Instructor of the Badminton Unit at Udinus, encouraged those participants to hold their sense of sportsmanship.
“All participants must hold sportsmanship. From what we have seen, every athlete has showcased such formidable performances. Hopefully, these athletes can one day make a name for Indonesia in the badminton sports branch,” he said.
As stated before, this competition was part of a bigger event, namely, the 2024 Dinusfest. The 2024 Dinusfest itself showcases dozens of contests in different fields, including arts, sports, and technology. In addition to contests, the 2024 Dinusfest also features several webinars and expos organized by Udinus.
The competition is available not only for students but there are dozens of other contests for college students and the general public. In total, 36 competitions are opened which will run for more than 2 weeks, starting from January 20 until the upcoming February 5, 2024.
