Melki – A Student of the Medical Department at Udinus
Being a doctor is not merely a profession, but also a form of commitment to giving the best service possible to the public. This mindset motivated Melki to pursue his medical studies in the Medical Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus).
Becoming a doctor has always been the dream of Melki since childhood. According to him, doctor in general was a proud profession as it mainly deals with helping others in need. In an attempt to pursue his dream, he is currently undergoing his medical studies in the Medical Department in the Faculty of Medicine. Despite originating from a different island, Melvin had the idea to enroll at Udinus.
“However, ever since the establishment of the Medicine Faculty, I knew that this was the perfect place. Despite being newly founded, I believe that the academic community in the faculty is committed and determined to guide their students to their destination. In addition, Udinus has been accredited as Excellent,” Melki, born in Toburi, on May 10th, 2005, uttered.
As a student of the first cohort in the Medical Department, Melki revealed that he had been going through various obstacles, including adapting to the classes and other activities. Additionally, he also stated that the complex learning and tight schedules might be contributing factors to his struggles.
“To mitigate these problems, I commonly motivate myself that becoming a doctor is my childhood dream, even if it means I have to part with my hometown and live independently,” he highlighted.
Through that motivation, Melki kept his passion for pursuing his dream. Thus far, he has garnered priceless experiences and knowledge for his future medical career, including human anatomy and its structure, histology, which is a cellular study, and physiology, a study of human normal function.
“There is actually a class of my favorite, namely, the Tutorial class. In that class, students gather and answer a case provided by the instructor. In addition to learning a new thing daily, I can also get to know with classmates,” he uttered passionately.
“In my opinion, the Medicine Faculty has a remarkable atmosphere. The fact that there are many supportive, constructive, and cooperative students really proves the quality of this faculty. Moreover, there are also many competent and supportive faculty members, making this institution to be even better,” he said.
Even though his journey was not easy by any means, Melki encouraged his fellow students to keep being passionate and dedicated about their fields of study.
“The key is to strengthen your determination and motivation and choose the best possible environment to study. I personally pray to the Lord for guidance and believe that man will be placed in their best situations. Keep striving for your dream of becoming a doctor and embody that dream of yours,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
