Students of the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) won 3rd place in one of the most PRESTIGIOUS competitions, the NHI Tourism Skill (NTSC) 2023. The achievement was attained by Theresia Viola Ratu Rosari Prasetyo who enrolled at the Hospitality Management Program of Udinus. She stood as the 3rd winner with the creation of 'Chicken Siomay ‘ street food, a while ago.
During the national contest, Vira participated in the competition-themed ‘Indonesia Appetizer'. The contest was participated by approximately 18 contestants from various universities across Indonesia. One of the branches of the competition that took place in NHI Bandung was divided into 2 categories. Each participant must present their creation individually within the specified time.
"Because the theme was Indonesian food, I chose ‘Siomay Ayam’ which includes one of the street foods in Nusantara Indonesia. In the presentation process, participants were given 45 minutes of duration. Starting from the cooking preparation to the serving session to the judges," explained Vira to Udinus PR.
"During the competition, I set my presentation style to look like restaurant/hotel dishes. Some of the presented ingredients were soft-boiled eggs, cabbage, siomay tofu, potatoes, and bitter melon. All my recipes are also based on the original recipe of the Indonesian archipelago," continued Vira.

During the cooking process, Vira used special techniques so that each component could be cooked perfectly. Resulting in her creation that is tasty and visually appealing to the eye. In addition, she also took advantage of campus facilities which is a kitchen specifically made as a hospitality laboratory Before participating in the competition, Vira had trained for two weeks.
“I performed the recipe and preparation trial in the Udinus hospitality laboratory because it has all of the equipment that I needed. In addition to its main function as a place to conduct practical lectures, the lab can also be utilized by students when participating in competitions," explained Vira.
As an additional information, NTSC is an annual activity of the Bandung State Tourism Polytechnic. The purpose of the event is to produce professional talents in the field of tourism.
Support From Lecturers
This achievement is not the first attainment for Vira. Previously, Vira along with one other student also won different championships. Which is the Student Culinary Competition held by Hotel Dafam Fortuna Yogyakarta. She emphasized that her achievements could not be separated from the support of lecturers in finding ideas.
“I am very grateful because Udinus has an amazing learning atmosphere and endless support from the lecturers. I feel proud to be able to bring the name of Udinus to the national stage in the field of tourism, especially in culinary," said Vira happily
