The Doctoral Computer Science Program at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again graduated a student. Dr. Muhammad Misdram, the graduated student, managed to achieve his doctoral degree through his dissertation entitled ‘Handling a Small Unbalanced Dataset on Classification Using the Gaussian Based-Smotedan Gradually Generative Adversarial Network (GradGan).’

Misdram was able to defend his dissertation at an open session conducted in the conference room on the first floor of the H building. The defending session was led by the chief examiner and the Vice Chancellor I of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., and it ran well without any technical issues. His success at the open session led Misdram to be the first student of the Doctoral Computer Science program to graduate this year.

Currently, the Doctoral Computer Science Program (PDIK) at Udinus is accredited as ‘B’. It is stated in the decree issued by the National Accreditation Body for Higher Education (BAN-PT) on October 5th, 2021, numbered 11405/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/D/X/2021. The accreditation is valid until October 5th, 2026.

Purwanto, S.Si, M.Kom., Ph.D., the Head of the Doctoral Computer Science Department at Udinus, explained that the department had various benefits students could utilize, including excellent faculty members, as well as sufficient facilities. All of these benefits are proven by the B accreditation achieved by the department.

The success accomplished by Misdram during the open session indicates that the Doctoral Computer Science Department at Udinus can facilitate its students properly. In addition, he also congratulated Dr, Muhammad Misdram for his newly achieved doctoral degree and his phenomenal performance during defending his dissertation.

“We will always be committed to giving the best possible education to our students. Several of our students even managed to publish Scopus-indexed international journals,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., the Chancellor of Udinus, also expressed his pride and congratulated Dr. Muhammad Misdram. In addition, the chancellor also advised Misdram to utilize his degree to contribute to the country. Through the Doctoral Computer Science Department, Udinus is always committed to giving a proper education to the general public and pushing its students to be competitive in the technology industry.

“We proudly guide our students in the Doctoral Computer Science Department to achieving their degrees. Furthermore, we will always contribute to educating the public and preparing our students to be competitive in the field of technology,” the chancellor emphasized.

Research Aiding the Medical Sector

Dr. Muhammad Misdram successfully earned his doctoral degree and became the first graduate of the Doctoral Computer Science Department in 2024. At the open defending session, he managed to defend his dissertation entitled ‘Handling a Small Unbalanced Dataset on Classification Using the Gaussian Based-Smotedan Gradually Generative Adversarial Network (GradGan).’ According to Dr. Muhammad Misdram, he conducted research to aid the medical sector and developed a method with the capability of detecting and predicting patients’ recovery.

“I have been researching this topic for two years. This GradGan method detects the accuracy values of the tested dataset with the best accuracy possible,” he explained.

Misdram admitted that the Doctoral Computer Science Department at Udinus had an excellent education system, and the faculty members were able to guide their students to graduate with the best results.

“I did not doubt when I enrolled here at Udinus and became its first cohort. This is because Udinus is one of the best IT campuses in Central Java with a good accreditation and institution,” Dr. Muhammad Misdram revealed.

During developing his dissertation, Dr. Muhammad Misdram was instructed by three promotors, namely, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., Purwanto, S.Si., M.Kom., Ph.D., and Dr. Muljono, S.Si., M.Kom. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
