It has become a tradition that during the holy month of Ramadan, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosts various activities to improve faith, concern toward others, and social awareness among the academic community.
At the ‘Gema Ramadan 1445 H,’ there were several Islamic activities for the academic community to participate in, including iftar, food giveaway for iftar, Taraweeh Prayer, and Qur’an recitation.
One of the most eye-catching activities is the food giveaway, which is specifically aimed at students. Every day during the holy month of Ramadan, the Muslim Activity Center (PAM) at Udinus provided full course meals for up to a thousand people. The meals were offered at two different mosques on campus, namely, Baitul Ilmi and Baitul Muttaqin.
“These meals are primarily given to those who are on campus, allowing them not to bother to eat outside. These meals are often given to students, instructors, and staff members. Everything is free, and we do not charge a penny,” Edy Mulyanto, S.Si., M.Kom., the Head of the PAM, revealed.
Following the Iftar, the activity continues with Maghrib, Isya, and Taraweeh prayers in the congregation. The event concludes with Qur’an recitation conducted by students and staff members.
“This event is not only to improve our faith but also to tighten the bonds among the academic community,” Edy added.
This food giveaway has been very helpful to students. With a varied menu each day, students are usually looking forward to these meals. The giveaway is conducted from Mondays to Saturdays at 5 p.m. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
