Academic collaboration between countries is needed to support joint research, together overcoming global challenges. The collaboration was born through the ‘Symposium on Urban Engineering and Informatics 2024’ which was attended by Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) a few weeks ago.
On this occasion, Udinus was represented by the head of Center of Excellence, Prof. Zainal A. Hasibuan, Ph.D., along with 4 other lecturers of the research team. To expand the network of cooperation between researchers, research institutions, and universities in various Asian countries. This event also encourages collaborative initiatives between countries in Asia. As well as supporting joint research in various fields of science and technology.
“It is an honor for Udinus to coexist with other renowned universities from all over Asia. It is hoped that we can continue to improve research capacity, both in terms of human resources and research infrastructure," explained Prof. Zainal, commonly called Ucok, the Head of the Center of Excellence Udinus.
The event entitled the presentation of the experts, was held at the Kantary Hills Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Wednesday (24/4/2024). On that occasion, Udinus accompanied by researchers and industry partners were discussing the exploration of new innovations.
Furthermore, one of the member of Research Team in the field of Internet of Things and Embedded System, Filmada Ocky Saputra, M.Eng, explained that Udinus was focusing on dealing with one problem. Which is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the food system. This project will utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) at every life cycle of the food system.
“Through this system, users can calculate GHG emissions from menus using image recognition and machine learning. And building a suitable platform to reduce food waste. Through this collaboration, we have gained so many insights to improve the system that is being designed," he concluded.
During the symposium, CoE Udinus received a souvenir from the Vice Chancellor of Chiang Mai University, Prof. Todsaporn Pichaiya, Ph.D. This present symbolizes the establishment of Udinus cooperation in the e-Asia Joint Research Program 2024. (Udinus Public Relation/Haris. Photo: Private Doc)
