Semarang – Eight athletes from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) successfully brought the alma mater a proud name at a national championship. The championship in question was the Open Karate Championship Yogyakarta State University (YSU) Cup IX 2024. It lasted from 12th to 15th July 2024.

These athletes are students from various departments who are also members of the Karate Unit at Udinus. The championship took place at the Sports Building at the Yogyakarta State University (YSU).

Dr. Rindra Yusianto, the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau, stated that the athletes competed with 43 other dojos or karate communities. Through the efforts and dedication shown by these athletes, Udinus successfully claimed three gold medals, two silver medals, and three bronze medals.

“These are indeed remarkable feats from our athletes, as they could compete against other universities and karate communities. These successful athletes will later be rewarded with scholarships to further motivate them to achieve something greater,” he uttered.

The athletes were divided into two categories, including festival and public. In the public category, the gold medals were claimed by Gabriella Arvita Kusuma Ayu—a Communication Science student, and Reditya Hikmal Aryantara—an Environmental Health student.

In the same category, the silver medal was secured by Aurel Narenda Ichsa—a Communication Science student. The bronze medals were garnered by two Management students, Alan Zidnil Chaqim and Ravi Firman Dwirahma, as well as Wulan Pebrianti—an Industrial Engineering student.

Meanwhile, in the festival category, the gold medal was won by Noor Adekah Apriyana, an Informatics student. The silver medal was fallen into the possession of Ardi Al Fatah—a Management student.

“Hopefully, these astounding accomplishments can also motivate other athletes, allowing Udinus to be known for its national and international accomplishments,” Rindra concluded.
