Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) in Semarang commemorated the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence with a solemn flag ceremony in the parking area of Udinus’ Building G on August 17, 2024. The ceremony served as a tribute to the nation's heroes and an opportunity to instill a spirit of patriotism among the students.

The ceremony was led by Udinus’ Vice-Chancellor III for Student Affairs, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., who acted as the ceremony inspector. Dr. Kusni was accompanied by the entire team from the Student Affairs Bureau (Bima) of Udinus.

Representatives from all Student Organizations (Ormawa) and Student Activity Units (UKM) participated in the event. The ceremony's officials included members of the UKM Student Regiment Battalion 948 Macan Kumbang and the Udinus Paskibraka Community, who took on the honored role of raising the Red and White flag.

This year’s Independence Day theme, ‘New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia,’ was a focal point of the celebration. Vice-Chancellor III Udinus emphasized the importance of this theme and urged the academic community to incorporate it into their daily lives, continuously striving for positive change.

"I hope that Udinus students, who are spread across 38 provinces, can embrace this year's Independence Day theme. By becoming a unified force within student organization (ormawa) and student unit (UKM), students can drive meaningful change," she expressed.

Dr. Kusni Ingsih also encouraged student organizations to collaborate and foster harmony. She highlighted that collaboration among organizations is the cornerstone of a thriving student community.

"Today is the era of collaboration, so let's come together to create a better Udinus, for ourselves and Indonesia. Happy Independence Day, Merdeka!" concluded Dr. Kusni Ingsih.

The ceremony was not just a routine annual event but also a reminder of the importance of honoring the sacrifices of our heroes and inspiring Udinus students to keep moving forward for a better education. It was a moment of reflection for all participants, reinforcing their commitment to advancing education in Indonesia.

In addition, prizes were awarded to the winners of the inter-student organization competitions held on Friday, August 16, 2024. A total of 79 Ormawa participated in the competitions, adding to the festivities of Indonesia's Independence Day celebration at Udinus. (Udinus Public Relations/Alex.
