The Karate Unit at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again earned an accomplishment on an international level, adding a whole new trophy to its collection. The accomplishment was in the form of a gold medal achieved by Fakhri Fakhri Rohman, a Communication Science student at Udinus. Fakhri earned the medal at the 2024 Senkaido Open International Karate Championship Series 6 initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in September 2024.
Fakhri earned the medal in the Men’s Kumite Senior -84kg category. The 2024 Open International Karate Championship itself was participated by 4,083 athletes from 200 contingents from various countries, including Malaysia, Hongkong, and India.
His gold medal embodied his pride. This accomplishment was earned during his debut in the senior class.
“I can’t get any prouder, as this was my debut, and I could make a name for Udinus. Hopefully, this can spearhead my success in the senior class representing the Karate Unit at Udinus,” Fakhri revealed.
As additional information, the Senkaido International Karate Championship is routinely held each year by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports. This competition is among the most prestigious, as many competent athletes participate in this championship to test their ability. This year, the championship was held in the Gelanggang Olahraga Sports Building in Ciracas, East Jakarta, from September 27th to 29th, 2024.
Furthermore, Fakhri revealed that his next goal was to compete at the 2026 Regional Sports Week of Central Java. Currently, he has been preparing for this sports week since 2023.
“I have prepared the best I can to consistently earn accomplishment in both the senior class and the regional level. I hereby thank the support from my parents, coaches, and Udinus for motivating me to pursue the karate sports branch,” he uttered.
In response to the accomplishment, Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus, expressed his pride to Fakhri on the basis that his accomplishments added a contribution from Udinus on the Intenational level.
“Hopefully, this accomplishment can be further improved, as well as a form of motivation to other athletes to follow a similar path. These accomplished students will be rewarded with scholarships,” he explained. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
