Seeking to make a name for her hometown, Diah Ayu Putri Permata, a Management Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), was motivated to participate in the East Java Tourism Ambassador Competition. Through the event, she expanded her networking, helped improve the tourism sector in East Java, as well as brought pride and joy to her parents.
“I also seek to be a woman who inspires and motivates the young generation of Indonesia to be more aware of the importance of tourism and proper manner. Hopefully, our generation can continue the legacy entrusted by the generations that came before ours,” Diah continued.
Prior to accomplishing first place in the Talented Raki Category, Diah had previously been through many stages. Before her quarantine and the Grand Final Stage, Diah had spent 3 months learning tourism, public speaking, and how to answer questions properly.
“During the quarantine stage, every participant had to go through numerous challenges, including an Tes English Conversation, a Focus Group Discussion, a Deep Interview, a Presentation of Advocations, and a Hashtag Challenge,” she explained.
Diah, born in 2003, has been committed to participating in related events since she was a high schooler. It can be proved by her gallery of achievements, encompassing third place at the Educational Boys and Girls of East Java 2021, second place at the 2021 Traffic Ambassador of East Java, first place in the 2023 Ngawi Regency Diajeng, and second contender at the 2024 Batik Fashion Show of Central Java and East Java.
Brain, Beauty, Behavior
Diah is also a member of the Student Executive Board at Udinus (BEM-KM). Her involvement in this organization aligns with her embraced principles, namely, 3B, which stands for, Brain, Beauty, and Behavior.
“Brain refers to critical thinking skills, encompassing insight and knowledge mastery. Beauty bears the meaning of beautiful looks. Lastly, Behavior means good mannerisms, polite, and sincerity,” she explained.
“Having a good attitude, politeness, and sincerity is among the most important factors assessed by the judges,” Diah, who has singing as her hobby.
In the future, Diah, owner of the @diahhptr hoped to inspire other Indonesian women to develop their values, as well as running her task as the Raki of East Java. A raki is tasked to promote the tourism sector of East Java, allowing economic growth to occur.
“Here is my message. Don’t waste any opportunity, and don’t be afraid of failing, as our luck can come anywhere and anytime,” Diah uttered.
“Don’t waste any opportunity, and don’t ever fear failure, as we don’t know where our luck waits for us.
