A Japanese Literature student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) proved his singing talents on a national level. Yudhistira Suryaputra Hariyadi showcased his singing prowess at the Japanese Singing Competition hosted by Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) and won first place.

Yudhistira, better known as Yudhis, sang an anime song entitled ‘Kamado Tanjiro no Uta.’ It was a song featured in a Japanese anime.

“I chose this song, as the song has a complex vocalization on a technical level. Thus, I felt that this song would captivate the judges at the competition,” Yudhis uttered on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Despite the complexity of the song, Yudhis kept his confidence and presented the song magnificently. However, his confidence was of no baseless, as he had already prepared thoroughly. Admittedly, he also felt nervous, but he still managed to perform his best at the contest.

“During my performance, I felt nervous to the point my hands were shaking. However, I was still able to deliver my maximum performance, and the performance went well with satisfying results,” he revealed.

Yudhis uttered that the contest consisted of numerous stages, with the elimination stage being hosted online with a total of 30 participants. The twelve chosen singers passed to the final stage held at the host university.

“I think the judges focused on the singing techniques, stage mastery, melody precision, and Japanese pronunciation,” he explained.

According to Yudhis, the contest was a golden opportunity. Since childhood, he competed in various singing music competitions, including singing. For that reason, he was passionate about singing at the contest held by UNJ. Moreover, the contest aligned with Yudhis’ academic background, namely, Japanese Literature.

“I’m proud of myself for being able to garner an accomplishment at the contest. Hopefully, I could participate in similar contests, allowing our campus and faculty to garner impressive reputations,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
