Shoe cleaning may not be that important for some individuals. However, it is crucial for us to keep our shoes intact, clean, and proper. In response to this, a student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) featured a practical solution for shoe cleaning under the name Baswara.

Baswara itself is a business focusing on shoe care. It offers two practical services for shoes, namely, shoe cleaning and shoe perfume. This shoe-cleaning service is among the most distinctive aspects possessed by Baswara compared to other shoe-caring brands.

The business is led by Emmanuel Nanda Lintang Samudra, and it also offers an innovation in the form of cleaning foams. 

“This foam is what makes our service different than other brands. There haven’t been that many brands involving foams in their shoe-caring products. With cleaner foam, all we need to do is just spray it all over the shoes and it will dry roughly 15 minutes later,” Emmanuel, a Medical Recorder student, said.

The product is carefully concocted using high-quality ingredients by Emmanuel and his team. It was a product that came up by Emmanuel’s mother, who was also a chemist. Baswara can be an alternative way to clean shoes without damaging them. 

“In addition to this product, we also offer shoe-caring services. Baswara is our response to the high demand for shoe-caring services on the market,” he continued.

Millions in Turnover

The prices for the products are relatively reasonable. The shoe perfume is priced at IDR 17,000.00, the small cleaner is priced at IDR 20,000.00, and the foam cleaner is priced at IDR 25,000.00. 

Baswara has been running for a year now, and it has become more and more prominent. Emmanuel revealed that the turnover of his business could go as high as millions of rupiah.

“We mainly employ marketing strategies involving online shops , particularly TikTok Shop and Shopee, under the name of baswara.smg. Our business has seen many ups and downs in its first year, so we must routinely create content promoting our products,” he uttered.

In addition to online shopping and social media, Emanuel and his team also participate in expos to market their products. One of these expos was the Creannovative Expo hosted by the Entrepreneurial Unit at Udinus. He hoped that their shoe-caring products would be more known by the public.
