Damar Anggiafitri Yulissusanti, S.Psi., M.Psi – a Psychologist at the Career Center of Udinus

The rise in job scams in the digital era pushes job seekers to be more careful. A psychologist from the Career Center at Universitas Dian Nsuwantoro (Udinus), Damar Anggiafitri Yulissusanti, S.Psi., M.Psi., gave several tips and tricks about seeking safe and trusted jobs in 2025.

According to Damar, the first step was to ensure the authenticity of job vacancy info. She stated that crosschecking the source of information is among the most important things.

“Do not believe in any information spread across the social media and WhatsApp group that easily. Check the contact enclosed in the posters or pamphlets, and do not hesitate to ask about the authenticity of the vacancy,” Damar uttered.

She also emphasized the importance of looking at the companies’ email addresses. Damar continued that corporations often used their own official email domains, which involve the name of the company.

“Beware of the email addresses that look similar, as some of them could be fake. It is safer to just apply for the jobs at the official website of the said company,” he added.

Damar added that job seekers must conduct research about the companies before they sign up for the jobs, including their visions, missions, work cultures, and benefits. This will make job seekerssure that they apply for the correct jobs.

“If one were to have the ambition to pursue their careers, it is important to ensure that the company provides the opportunity for their employees to do so,” she emphasized.

Damar emphasized that all valid recruitment processes did not charge anything. If a company were to demand any form of payment, job seekers would be expected to report this problem to related agencies.

However, there are several companies that require payment for their job training programs, which often involve international companies. Nonetheless, job seekers need to also check the legality of these companies.

Job-seeking platforms like JobStreet, LinkedIn, or sites provided by universities are the most recommended choices for seeking jobs. Damar suggested going with trusted platforms with good reviews.

“First thing first, one must take a formal photo and write a short description about themselves. Jobs seekers must also show their experiences, accomplishments, and relevant expertise, aligning with their applied job positions,” she explained.

According to Damar, introducing oneself is among the most important aspects. By realizing their own pros and cons, job seekers will be able to adapt to the applied positions. In addition, it is also important for job seekers to prepare themselves for interview, as well as possess soft skills.

“In the current era, the job market does not only depend on hard skills, so job seekers are expected to prepare their soft skills to their best capacity,” she revealed.

Damar also advised job seekers to always hone their abilities per the demands of the job markets, including English skills if one were to work at an international company.

“On top of that, it is also crucial to reinforce one’s networking to communicate with friends, faculty members, and communities,” she added.

She also gave several tips and tricks to fresh graduates in seeking jobs, including getting to know their interests and career goals. During her interview, Damar motivated them to always be optimistic in job seeking.

“Never give up trying despite the rejections, as rejections are not signs of inability. Keep learning, practicing, and being positive,” he advised. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
