Shiva Augusta Wicaqsana – an Informatics Student at Udinus
According to Shiva Augusta Wicaqsana, there are three things every entrepreneur must possess, namely, dedication, determination, and persistence. Shiva, an Informatics Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), revealed that if one were not to have those three things, their business would potentially not run well.
This principle does not stem from anything insubstantial. Rather, it is a principle that has been running in Shiva’s family for generations in their businesses.
Frankly, Shiva also inherits her interest in entrepreneurship from her family. They pushed her to be an entrepreneur, leading Shiva to establish her very own enterprise, namely, Shiva Catering.
Shiva Catering was established in 2022 in Semarang, and it was a rebranding from a brand named Kedaung Catering, which was previously managed by Shiva’s mother. Before shifting to the catering enterprise, Shiva and her parents once had an enterprise revolving around cakes in 2017 with the pre-order system.
“Mama loves making cakes, so in truth, this enterprise is hers, and I only help. Initially, we only made birthday cakes, roll cakes, and biscuits. At that time, our business was small and only received pre-orders,” Shiva, who was a junior student, explained.
In their enterprise, Shiva plays a role of marketing, an accountant, and a clerk. During her time managing the business, Shiva stated that there were many challenges she had to face.
“The real challenges lie in the criticism from our customers. Through their criticism, I will try my best not to make our customers disappointed with our products. From this enterprise, I became more motivated to seek for the better,” Shiva uttered.
Among the Top Ten Entrepreneurship Ambassadors in Central Java
Shiva’s interest in her business led her to participate in an entrepreneurship competition. In 2024, she participated in the Campus Entrepreneurship Ambassador of Central Java and became among the top ten.
The event was hosted by HIPMI PT of Central Java, and it was a place for people to develop their businesses and HR. It also served as a platform for people to support the development of entrepreneurship in Indonesia.
“I did various preparations to participate in this competition through prayers, support from my loved ones, and confidence. The Campus Entrepreneurship Ambassador of Central Java itself comprised of selection through online photos and videos, as well as the announcement of the top 20 ambassadors,” she revealed.
“Following that, the top 20 ambassadors were obliged to do a catwalk and engage in a talk show. After that, the top 10 ambassadors were announced," Shiva uttered
The ambassador award served as a stepping stone for Shiva to further pursue her dream as a successful entrepreneur. Furthermore, she also advised her fellow students not to give up and be courageous in taking challenges.
