The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) recently hosted the 2025 MedStart. It was an educative event that taught high school students about life at the Medicine Faculty at Udinus.

The event took place in the Faculty of Medicine at Udinus on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with thirty high school students attending it. MedStart was among the events hosted during the Dinus Festival (Dinusfest) 2025.

As additional information, Dinusfest was an annual event hosted by Udinus. It was a collaboration between the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus with student organizations and activity units on campus. The event served as a platform for students to hone their talents in various fields, including arts and sports.

Hawila Maretha Krispra Dhenael, the Head Organizer of the 2025 MedStart at Udinus, explained that the event aimed to inform high school students about campus life, particularly in the medical field. For that reason, the 2025 MedStart focused on the introduction and exploration of this particular field.

He continued that the participants were given some basic medical learning materials. They were also given the opportunity to practice several medical skills, including how to use a stethoscope and tensiometer, as well as some basic practices that were often learned by medical students.

“MedStart served as an initial step for high school students to experience what it feels like to be medical students. This event can also be a platform for those who are still considering which major to choose for their next education,” he uttered on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

The participants were mainly high school students from various regions, including the YSKI Christian High School of Semarang, MA NU Banat Kudus, SMA Negeri 1 Kota Salatiga (the Public High School of Salatiga), and SMA Negeri 5 Semarang (the Fifth Public High School of Semarang City).

Meanwhile, Alya Rahmadina, the Person in Charge, explained that MedStar was a very useful program for high school students. The event was the first of its kind hosted by the Medicine Faculty at Udinus. Alya hoped that the event could be more routinely held in the future.

“MedStart allows students to earn some experiences and knowledge that they wouldn’t get in other places. The event itself also received a generally positive reception from the participants, which means MedStart can potentially be an annual event,” she concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas FK Udinus)
