Several athletes from Karate Unit at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again earned accomplishments in a national, with a total of 11 medals. These medals were earned in an event held by the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, namely, the Rakashima BM National Karate Championship 2025.

The national event lasted from February 7 to 9, 2025, with a total of 1,100 athletes participating. These athletes came from 63 different contingents and various institutions, including Universitas Cendrawasih Jayapura, the Indonesian Karate-Do Association of Bali, and the Indonesian Military Academy.

The championship was held at the Women’s Building of Jepara Regency. Karate athletes from Udinus managed to garner dozens of medals in the event, including five gold medals, two silver medals, and four bronze medals.

Muhammad Wafi Rohman, the Chief of the Karate Unit at Udinus, explained that the championship aimed to provide a platform for young and senior athletes to improve, as the tournament itself included various categories based on demographics, including elementary school students, high school students, and the military.

“This tournament was held to push athletes to hold some integrity, humility, strength, and merits. For us, personally, this event also served as a way for us to prepare for the upcoming Regional Sports Week, O2SN, and the Forki National Championship,” he uttered.

Wafi continued that the athletes had been preparing long before the tournament began, starting in September 2024. Moreover, the athletes had previously done a good job by achieving seventeen medals in the National WTA Championship 2024. The athletes had been tirelessly trained three times a week, with them also honing their strategies and mentality since a month before the tournament.

“During the last month before the tournament, we trained five times a week, with two training sessions each day. We also decided to add another portion to our training to get the best possible results,” Wafi uttered.

Wafi expressed his pride to the athletes for their dedication and hard work during the tournament. This is because these athletes had spared their time to train despite their busy activities on campus.

“We have spared our time with such high responsibility. These accomplishments would later serve as evaluations to motivate us to aim for even higher levels of accomplishments,” Wafi highlighted.

On a separate occasion, the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus, Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., congratulated the athletes for their triumphant accomplishments in a national championship. The accomplishments are expected to motivate them further to accomplish more in other prestigious events.

“These accomplishments show that Udinus Athletes can compete on the national level. We will further guide these athletes so they can regenerate and bring the Karate Unit at Udinus to its higher heights,” Rindra concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Dok. UKM Karate Udinus)
