Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again held the Pencak Silat Championship III as a part of the 2025 Dinus Festival (Dinusfest) The championship was an attempt to garner young athletes with potential, particularly in martial arts. The event lasted from February 12 to 15, 2025.

It took place at a sports building owned by Udinus, namely, the Satria Sports Centre, with 560 athletes participating. These martial artists were divided into several categories, including Elementary School, Junior High School, and High School divisions. The event was opened symbolically by the Vice Rector III of Student Affairs at Udinus, Prof. Dr. Dra. Kusni Ingsih, S.E., M.M., by sounding the gong. 

Prof. Kusni emphasized that the event was held to look for young talented martial artists, which aligns with the goal of the Semarang City Government and the Central Java Regional Government.

Prof. Kusni also hoped that with sportsmanship and dedication, the Pencak Silat Championship III at Udinus could be a platform for young athletes to gradually improve and make a name for their home regions.

“Currently, we coordinate with the KONI and related institutions, and they want the championship to be open for also elementary and junior high school students. This event aimed to help the government in looking for young martial artists with potential who will later be the pride of Semarang City,” she explained.

Wahyu Sholeh Kurniawan, from the Achievement Division of KONI of Semarang, stated that this event held benefits for the general public. Furthermore, this event not only serves as a competition but also has an economic impact on Semarang City. Wahyu also put his utmost hope on young martial artists to do their best at the event and garner the best possible accomplishment.

“From this event, young and talented martial artists will improve to be professional athletes and be accomplished in more prestigious championships. In the future, we would also like to prepare our athletes to compete in bigger events like the Regional Sports Week, or even the National Sports Week,” he explained. (Humas Udinus/Alex.
