Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again initiated steps to establish international collaborations. This time, Udinus partnered with the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) from the Philippines. The partnership was marked by a Memorandum of Understanding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in the conference room on the first floor of the H building at Udinus, on Monday, February 24, 2025.

The signing was conducted by the Rector of Udinus, Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom, accompanied by the Vice Rector I of Academic Affairs—Dr. Drs. Abdul Syukur, M.M., the Vice Rector IV of Research, Partnership, and Innovation Affairs—Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., as well as staff members from the Partnership and International Agency at Udinus. Furthermore, faculty members from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Udinus were also present.

Meanwhile, from UNO-R, the MoU was signed by the President of UNO-R—Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR. He was accompanied by the Vice President for Academics and Research—Rev. Fr. Romeo Ben Potencio, Jr., OAR., the Director of International Affairs Office—Dr. Agnes Sequino, and the Director Research and Development Office—Engr. Ashraf Khafer.

The Rector of Udinus, Prof. Pulung stated that the partnership involved UNO-R learning from Udinus to develop its educational quality. There are also many programs included in this collaboration, including internships and student exchange programs.

“This partnership will certainly benefit both parties. It also serves as a way for us to establish an international relationship between two countries,” he stated. 

According to Prof. Pulung, international partnerships are also needed in addition to national ones, particularly in the era of globalization. Education shall not be infringed and can be garnered from across the globe.

“Currently, Udinus itself has earned a place in the QS World University Rankings and has been internationally recognized. This shows that Udinus holds the commitment to improving the quality of international education,” he uttered.

The Importance of Global Collaboration

On a separate occasion, Rev. Fr. Joel, the President of UNO-R, warmly welcomed the collaboration. He stated that that they were glad to be a part of this global collaboration. According to him, global collaborations in general were needed to establish an excellent education system. 

“For starters, we hoped for our academicians to conduct research with academicians from Udinus. As for student mobility, we would like to send our students to work as interns at Udinus, so they can learn more, particularly in the field of IT,” he revealed.

He also appreciated the warm greetings and hospitality from Udinus. In the future, he hoped for both parties to hold commitment, allowing their partnership to come to fruition.

The Partnership will last for five years all the way to 2030. After signing the MoU, the event would continue with a discussion session with the Economics and Business Faculty at Udinus in the Graduate Discussion Room on the fifth floor of the I building. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Humas Udinus)
