Students Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) recently proved his worth in an international contest. This time, the accomplishment was earned by a student from The Applied Undergraduate Animation Department of the Computer Science Faculty named Ahmad Zein . At the Nature’s Canvas Drawing Contest, Zein won third place.

The drawing contest participated by Zein was held by XP-Pen, a global company producing digital stationeries. It operates in 163 different countries across the globe, with its fanbase containing 1.5 million people.

Zein mentioned that the drawing contest was an annual event from XP-Pen. There were 300 artists who participated in the event, from across the globe.

“In the contest, I drew a nature illustration, aligning with its theme, namely, the beauty of nature. This work is inspired by my backyard view, and I made it with a tropical atmosphere and autumn details, as well as a waterfall,” he explained.

Moreover, Zein, who is a freshman student, also revealed that he specifically used the full digital painting 2D technique. During the creation of his work, Zein also utilized facilities provided by the campus, such as computers in the computer lab.

“I mainly used Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint. I also used campus facilities while working on my sketch. After sketching, particularly during the finishing touch, I started using my personal device ,” he explained.

According to Zein, the facilities at Udinus were sufficient to facilitate his needs, with its well-equipped computer lab. Zein also thought that the faculty members and other students were positive.

“Many times, I have also asked my fellow animation students for opinions, for example, an opinion on the color tone or if there’s something to be brushed. I think Udius holds the perfect atmosphere to support students in earning accomplishments,” he continued.

During his participation in the contest, Zein admitted that his biggest adversary was time management and art style consistency. However, Zein could still do well, as proven by his third place in the international drawing contest. (Humas Udinus/Penulis: Ika. Editor: Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
