A Student Activity Unit known as Dinus Open Source Community (Doscom) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) recently launched an Open Source (OS) update for ‘TeaLinux.’ The launch took place on the third floor of the E building at Udinus as an annual event entitled the 2025 Release Party.
The Release Party was a ceremonial event for the update of TeaLinux, developed by Doscom. TeaLinux itself is an open-source program openly developed to produce a Linux Programming distro with education-friendly attributes. As for this year, the update of the open-source OS has reached its fifth volume.
Muhammad Ivan Rafsanjani, the Head Organizer of the Release Party, revealed that there was a series of events featured at the party. This includes the Expo Project, which showcased projects made by Doscom members, the release of the TeaLinux OS, and a seminar concerning the cyber world.
“At the seminar, we featured a presentation about TeaLinux OS, open-source, and cybersec. It was attended by 252 participants, consisting of Udinus students and the general public. Among them, there were also attendants from Jogja Cybersec, Semarang Cybersec, Purwokerto Cybersec, and students from other campuses,” he uttered.
Additionally, Ivan mentioned that there were two speakers featured at the seminar. These two speakers were the Founder of Jogja Cybersecurity—Nor Ahmad, and the Project Manager of the TeaLinux OS Vol.5—Gagah Syuja. The theme of this year’s seminar was ‘Cracking the Invisible Shield: Mastering Web App Exploitation & Defense Tactics.’
“Hopefully, with this event, students will be able to learn more about the expanding world of open source and cybersecurity. In addition, open source can also be further developed and retain its consistency in the next releases,” he concluded.

As additional information, Doscom is the biggest open-source community in Central Java. It is under the supervision of Udinus. This community has the vision of ‘Making Open Source Open to the Public and Making the Public Open-Source.’
There were also other products produced by Doscom apart from the TeaLinux, namely, Blind Stick. It is a navigation website to monitor objects for blind people by utilizing an IoT device and Smart Grid Precision. Additionally, Doscom has also produced a device used to select kolang-kaling (fruits produced by a sugar palm tree) based on their quality by supervising the fruits in real-time.
