Dozens of campus organizations (Ormawa) and Student Activity Units (UKM) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) were featured at an expo known as ‘Expo Orma 2022-2023.’ At the expos, students, who were part of these organizations or units, established nicely decorated booths located at the courtyard of the D building at Udinus.

The event, which was open to all students, lasted for two days from September 28yh, 2022. On that occasion, every organization and unit showcased their main group activities. This was done to attract freshmen to join their causes.

On that occasion, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, opened the whole procession with her speech. The gong sound pounded by Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., the Vice Chancellor I of Academic Affairs, marked the beginning of this expo. Furthermore, all deans from five different faculties were also present alongside all student coordinators.

At the expo, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, reported that there were 31 booths promoting Student Activity Units, while five other booths advertise campus organizations. This expo aimed to encourage freshmen to join these organizations or units. Through these booths, freshmen were expected to be interested in joining these units and being a part of the academic community.

“There have been many achievements earned through these student activities, including academic and non-academic ones. Hopefully, this expo will be able to allow freshmen to see their interests and talents,” she revealed.

Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Si., the Vice Chancellor I of Academic Affairs, hoped for all organizations and units to maximize this opportunity. Furthermore, he revealed that some freshmen looked enthusiastic to see the uniqueness of each booth.

“Both hard skills and soft skills must be mastered by students. Thus, not only will students learn hard skills in classes, but they also need to learn soft skills in both organizations and units,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Aufa Marzuq Alwi, the Student President at Udinus, claimed that this expo has been long-awaited by all organizations at Udinus. This is because the expo has been halted since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Before this, the expo was mainly hosted at the same time as the student orientation, namely, Dinus Inside. On this occasion, at last, we can finally show our passion to freshmen,” he concluded.

Every booth at the expo also competed to get the Best Booth title. The title would be directly given by the student affairs team on the second day of the expo. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
