AN INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL MARKETING EXPERT EDUCATED THE STUDENTS OF ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS FACULTY CONCERNING MARKETING PARADIGM

As technological advancements reach their peak, students are obliged to keep up with this phenomenon from various fields, with the digital marketing paradigm being one of them. To facilitate students, the Economics and Business Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) conducted a seminar featuring Dr. Aristeidis Gkoumas from United International College (UIC), Zhuhai, China, on Thursday, October 10th, 2022.
 
The seminar was entitled ‘International Guest Lecturer Series,’ which commonly features international experts. It was mainly hosted by the Management Department at Udinus by employing the theme of ‘Principle and Paradigms of Digital Marketing.’ The seminar was held online through the Zoom Meeting platform, with 116 students, who took the Financial Management course, participating in it. 
 
During the seminar, Dr. Aristeidis Gkoumas shared insight concerning the paradigm and principles of digital marketing. He defined digital marketing as an act of promoting products or services. This promotion is usually done online by utilizing the internet to reach a bigger market. The internet itself has become a daily need for everyone.
 
“In this case, marketing is more than selling products or services. Instead, it is a process of sharing information surrounding the products or services,” he explained.
 
In a broader line, the learning materials were delivered through illustrations in the sports and entertainment sectors, which currently utilize digital marketing. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, digital marketing has become more implementable in various sectors.
 
“In those two sectors, digital marketing is used as a way to promote information concerning various products, including tickets, sponsors, and merchandise. The prime example of digital marketing is a streaming platform of sports matches,” he revealed.
 
Meanwhile, Prof. Vincent Didiek Wiet Aryanto MBA., Ph.D., (the Dean of the Economics and Business Faculty) advised students to take notes of the learning materials, particularly about the understanding of digital marketing. This is because this knowledge will later serve a greater purpose for students who are interested in digital marketing.
 
“We invited an expert in international journal publication to share his knowledge with our students. Hopefully, students can utilize this knowledge to its fullest,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
