Many Ramadan events have been held by various institutions and organizations, and Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) is among those institutions. It has always been an annual agenda for Udinus in an attempt to do good deeds during this holy month of Ramadan.

In 2023, particularly at the Gema Ramadan 1444M Hijriah event, the event was participated by the whole academic community. It mainly encompassed several activities including Sermons, Iftar, Tarawih Prayer, and Qur’an Recitation.

As for the sermons, anyone can attend them from Mondays to Thursdays starting at 5 PM. The themes of the sermons are varied, and they usually feature a different speaker daily. Following the sermon, an iftar will be conducted with more than 2000 portions of food provided to both students and locals at two mosques on campus, namely, Baitul Ilmi and Baitul Mutaqien.

“These portions of food will usually be given to students, faculty members, and staff members, who fast,” Edy Mulyanto, S.Si., M.Kom., the Head of the Muslim Activist Center, revealed.

Following the Iftar, the Maghrib, Isya’, and tarawih prayers will be conducted in a congregation, as well as the Qur’an recitation. In addition to those routine activities, there are also other ones, including the Special Ramadan Talk show hosted from Mondays to Thursdays, with several hosts being featured at the show. Also, there are Nuzulul Qur’an Recitation, Community Service, I’tikaf Movement, Fajr Prayer in Congregation, and Halal bi Halal.

“All these activities serve as a platform to strengthen our faith and tighten our bonds with other members of the academic community,” Edy added.

During her interview, Muflikhatun Nuranisa, a Public Health student, expressed her joy for the Iftar food provided by the campus. According to her, the food giveaway was helpful for students of different cities like she was.

“This is the first time I received free food for Iftar, and I do not feel anything but joy to be able to break my fast with my classmates,” she revealed. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
