The robot team from the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) managed to advance to the national stage in Indonesian Robot Contest or Kontes Robot Indonesia (KRI) for Region 2. The team known as DN-GLADIATOR was victorious through the Indonesian ABU Robot Contest or Kontes Robot ABU Indonesia (KRAI) division.
That success was the result of hard work done by the DN-GLADIATOR team led by Muhammad Jefri Rikianto. Jeffri received assistance from other five students namely, Wahyu Affani, Thoriq Akbar Bagaskoro, Yahya Raffly Fathurrahman, Muhammad Ghifariahsan, and Nia Yunita Listianingrum from the robot building process up until the competition.
Other than KRAI several other divisions also engaged at the KRI Competition such as the Indonesian SAR Robot Contest (Kontes Robot SAR Indonesia, KRSRI), Indonesian Wheeled Robot Football Contest (Kontes Robot Sepak Bola Indonesia Beroda, KRSBI), Indonesian Humanoid Robot Football Contest (Kontes Robot Sepak Bola Indonesia Humanoid, KRSBI), Indonesian Dancing Robot Contest (Kontes Robot Seni Tari Indonesia, KRSTI), Indonesian Thematic Robot Contest (Kontes Robot Tematik Indonesia, KRTMI), and Indonesian Underwater Robot Contest (Kontes Robot Bawah Air Indonesia, KRBAI).
Muhammad Jeffri Rikianto, the leader of the DN-GLADIATOR robot team, said that the robots must be able to put the rings onto the designated poles. He revealed that the contest’s scoring system and the time duration followed the national-level KRAI guide which was adapted from the rules of the 2023 ABU ROBOCON.
Meanwhile, when the robot was still in the building process for the KRAI division, the Udinus team was developing the robot for 3 months, and constructing the mechanical aspect of the robot was the most difficult part.
“We are glad that the Udinus team managed to make it into the national-level competition. We are focused on perfecting the robot so that it can be more stabilized when it throws the rings,” he explained.
The selection phase of KRAI Division Region 2 taking place from April 29th to May 5th was held at the Udinus Sports Center (USC). Udinus's robot successfully advanced to the national level and competed with other 25 Universities from across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the KRAI division Udinus robot team’s mentor, Arga Dwi Pambudi M.T. was proud of the team’s remarkable achievement. The team’s success was also thanks to the Rector of Udinus, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom alongside others who always supported the Udinus Robot Team to pursue their glory. That accomplishment would also serve as a motivation to all students at Udinus specifically from the Engineering Faculty to develop their creativity.
“What a phenomenal effort from the students of Udinus, we hope they will be able to perform well at the national level,” he said.
National KRI was scheduled to be held in one of the private universities in Semarang on June 21st to 26th, 2023. The teams competing in the national KRI are the teams who came out as champions and deserved to go to the next stage. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
