Becoming an ‘agent of change’ is a principle held by Dewa Ayu Putri Tesalonika, an undergraduate student of Communication Science at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). The principle encourages Tessa to actively participate in campus organizations such as the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Computer Faculty (FIK) at Udinus.

“The Student Executive Board of FIK is aligned with my life principle, which is becoming the agent of change. Ever since I took part in the campus organization, I've begun to directly apply and practice my principle through the authority and work programs of BEM FIK,” stated the girl known as Tessa.

Tesa had already been considered as an active student since the first year of her study. In 2021, Tesa, born in Malang joined the team of the Coaching Student Organization Program (PPKO) along with other members of BEM FIK at Udinus, which later was successfully funded. Not only that, Tesa and her team were qualified for the Entrepreneurial Student Development Program (P2MW).

She admitted “By actively participating in various activities offered by the campus, I get so many experiences including soft skills. Besides Student Executive Board, I also joined the ‘Radio Swara Dian’ Bureau to hone my communication ability, which is related to my study program.”

Tessa, born in 2003, said that organizations gave her so many valuable things, such as the importance of leadership as well as teamwork.

“Other than that, my communication skill has improved a lot and I get a lot of relations. These relations can help us to seek future job opportunities,” added her.

Although she’s very busy, Tesa does not abandon her duty as a student to study. Tesa has her secret to managing her time toward her activities.

“Usually, I spared 10 minutes of my time in the morning to write a ‘to-do list’. Then, I’d write my upcoming activities on the Google Calendar as a reminder so that I wouldn’t be left behind. And last but not least, to avoid burnt out, I use the remaining time to get some rest.

Tesa, the owner of the Instagram account @dewtesa also mentioned that self-evaluation was very needed to rate all of her activities. “We have to consider as well about our activity, whether it needs to be reduced or even it goes above our capacity,” said Tesa.

In the future, Tessa hoped that she would be the agent of change at any time and anywhere. She wants to influence other people to grow and improve. “Don’t be afraid to start something. Changes will begin when fear fades away,” concluded her. (Udinus Public Relation/Ika. Photo: Personal Doc)
