Karate athletes from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) presented three medals for the Central Java contingent. Those medals were earned at the 2023 National Student Sports Week XVIII.
The medals were garnered by two students of the Management Program at Udinus, including Getta Shafada and Hera Irnandha. At the competition, Getta managed to triumphantly bring the gold medal in the Men’s Group Class. Moreover, Hera emerged as a medalist for two bronze medals in the Women’s Group of the 65kg class. Those three medals were able to cause the Central Java contingent to maintain its second place.
Getta Shafada expressed his pleasure for his newly achieved gold medal. It was indeed his target to showcase his best performance at the 2023 National Student Sports Week. His gold medals were concrete proof of his tenacity in surpassing various participants from many different contingents.
“This competition is a priceless opportunity for me to hone my skills. Yes, it is my priority to aim for the gold medal, and I successfully obtained one. I would like to hereby express my gratitude to the Central Java contingent and the whole academic community at Udinus,” Getta uttered.
Medals Achieved by Athletes from Udinus
Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, also congratulated those two talented athletes for presenting three medals for the Central Java contingent. For additional information, the Karate sports branch was the last sports branch in which the team was reinforced by athletes from Udinus. Until now, there has been a total of four different sports branches, and athletes from Udinus have contributed to earning twelve of them.
“Those medals consisted of three gold medals, three silver medals, and six bronze medals. Also, we will give our athletes scholarships as a token of appreciation for carrying the image of our campus to the national level. Once again, I congratulate our young yet talented athletes for showcasing their phenomenal performance,” she concluded.
It is important to note that the National Student Sports Week is a sports competition serving as a platform for students to showcase their talents and skills. This competition was participated by students from various universities in Indonesia. In addition, there were four sports branches reinforced by athletes from Udinus, namely Taekwondo, Chess, Wall Climbing, and Karate.
