Universitas Dian Nuswantoro received 80 students from various regions in Indonesia through the Independence Student Exchange Program (PMM). As a symbol of acceptance, among those students, 80 of them were welcomed to the PMM Batch 4 which took place on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
The event that took place in the auditorium on the 7th floor of the H building at Udinus was attended by the Chancellor of Udinus, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom. During his speech, Prof. Edi embraced all students who were involved with the student exchange program. In addition, he provided an introduction to Udinus, highlighting various innovations by both lecturers and students, as well as the campus culture.
“It's amazing, because the number of PMM participants keeps rising. This year we are accepting almost twice as many students as the previous year. Hopefully, with the delivery of material about Udinus, they can get to know better about Udinus and can implement positive things," said Prof. Edi.
On that occasion, the Head of the Bureau of International Cooperation and Affairs (KUI) Udinus, Dr. Ir. Dwi Eko Waluyo, M.M. submitted this 4th batch program report. Among the 80 students who participated, they all came from various regions outside Java Island. Such as Aceh, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Kalimantan, to Papua and many more.
"Alhamdulillah in terms of numbers, this year Udinus has twice as many arrivals than last year. We expressed our gratitude to all of the participants for your trust in Udinus and hopefully, there will be a lot of knowledge gained in the future," said Ir. Dwi Eko Waluyo.
In his presentation, he explained that students will get a total of 16 credits semester system. Hence, 4 additional credits will enter the Nusantara module which is a means of enrichment, personality development, and increasing nationalism and diversity.
"In the Nusantara module, students will be introduced to various existing cultures. Hopefully, they can enrich the experience of being an exchange student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro and feel the meaning forever even though only experience it temporarily," stated Ir. Dwi Eko Waluyo.
Role of Student Organization
In the welcoming activity of the PMM students, the representatives of the Udinus student organization also attended the event. Representing Udinus students, the student vice president of the Student Executive Board (BEM-KM) of Udinus, Falih Patria Fatahilah hopes that there will be positive interactions between students, strong unity, and strong tolerance, as well as broad friendships.
"We also invite colleagues in student organizations to embrace PMM participants during their studies in Udinus. The purpose of these interactions is to make Udinus students learn more about the culture of various regions, as well as to provide guidance to PMM participants regarding the campus environment," Said Falih.
Interviewed post-event, Johan Indra Saputra, a student from Multi Data Palembang University, Palembang City, South Sumatra, explained his reasons for participating in the PMM. He revealed his reason for participating in the PMM program is because studying in a big city was one of his ideals.
"In addition, according to my point of view, Udinus is famous for its informatics techniques, which is the same department as the one I took at my home campus. Hopefully, there will be a lot of knowledge gained while I'm studying at Udinus," he concluded.
