This is what has been long awaited by Japanese Culture enthusiasts! Bukasai at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) will feature art performances from Bunka Hikari and Guest Stars. The annual cultural event, presented by the Japanese Literature Department at Udinus, will hold the theme of ‘Kibou no Hikari.’ Visitors can join the fun for two days from June 22nd to 23rd, 2024.

Bunka Hikari, performed by numerous Japanese Literature students, will present various art performances, including Omikoshi, Taiko, and Chanoyu. Omikoshi is a Japanese traditional festival in which all participants hold a portable temple or altar as a way to commemorate. Taiko is a musical performance involving big drums and dynamic body movements. Last but not least, Chanoyu, or ‘The Way of Tea’ is a traditional Japanese tea-drinking ceremony.

“Visitors will also see numerous energic performances, including Senbozakura and various J-Music. Furthermore, we will also show them Soran Bushi. It is a traditional dance from Hokkaido fishermen as a symbol of honor. We will of course present this dance with also energic spirit,” Mahanael Ega Kharisma, the Head of the Committee of Bunkasai 2024, said.

Moreover, Mahanael Ega Kharisma added that Bunkasai was a step taken by the Japanese Literature Department to introduce Japanese culture to the public. In addition to a performance from Bunka Hikari, the event will also feature Guest Stars.

Ega further explained that Bunkasai also served as a means for Udinus to promote the Japanese Literature Department. Also, this event will eventually boost the soft skills possessed by students. This event will potentially serve as an introduction to Japanese Literature as well through various J-Pop performances delivered by Cosmonaut and Ape, Giga of Spirit, and Rivier.

“There will also be musical performances from various idol groups, including Kirin Day, Eurifessa, Kohi Sekai, Twenty Nine Teens, and Gochikara. The event will conclude with a special performance from Dj Hiramaki feat. Sanity (Semarang Anikura Community),” Ega uttered.

Numerous guest stars are also making an appearance at the 2024 Bunkasai, one of whom is Nekonoi Katsu, a cosplayer.
