Dozens of faculty members at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) recently participated in the Training of Trainers (ToT) for Assessors of Past Learning Recognition (RPL) type A. This training program was a continuation of a seminar hosted in all departments at Udinus.
The ToT was participated by 40 lecturers from various departments at Udinus, taking place on the first floor of the H building. It was opened by a speech delivered by Dr. Pujiono, SSi., M.Kom., the Head of the Learning and Career Development Institution (LPPK) at Udinus.
The training program was facilitated by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, the Directorate of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, with Unggul Wasiwitono, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., Dr. Eng acting as a speaker. The topic discussed at the program scoped a deep-level understanding of the RPL type A, which is a recognition system of one’s learning outcomes.
The RPL allows recognition of various education forms, including formal, non-formal, informal, and working experience. The RPL system can be used as a basis to continue one’s formal education and attach certain qualifications.
During his interview, Dr. Pujiono explained that the ToT program would equip faculty members with the ability to assess students who enrolled through the RPL method.
“Students who enrolled using the RPL must have the same educational backgrounds or jobs as the study programs or departments they choose. This is enforced to maximize their credit hours,” he explained.
Dr. Pujiono also emphasized the importance of integrity during the assessment process. “A lecturer must bear their responsibility by enforcing the enacted qualification standard, as well as maintaining high integrity in every assessing process,” he added.
Benefits of the RPL Program
Unggul Wasiwitono added that the training program also explained the policies for implementing the RPL comprehensively. “We will ensure that every process of this program is done per the enacted rules,” he uttered.
Furthermore, the lecturers were given detailed instructions concerning filling forms, the mechanism of RPL, and the required assessment procedure to ensure the implementation of RPL is conducted properly.
Unggul Wasiwitono, a lecturer from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), also highlighted that the RPL program could serve as a solution for many high school graduates who could not continue their studies due to various reasons.
Moreover, this program also helps students who halt their studies because of their financial issues by acknowledging their work experiences, allowing students to not take every offered course on campus.
“This RPL program, philosophically speaking, is designed to facilitate students who encounter various kinds of problems in continuing their studies,” Unggul concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
