Annually, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) routinely conducts a social service, which is a part of the 2024 Dinus Inside. The social service is conducted by giving groceries from both students and campus to various orphanages in Semarang on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024.
Adi Prihandono, M.Kom., the Coordinator of the Social Service, explained that the service aimed to help those who were needy, as well as to teach students to be more caring toward one another.
“Most of the groceries were donated by new students, with few of them being donated by the campus,” Adi explained.
At the service, the groceries consisted of 100kg of rice, 25 liters of cooking oil, 25kg of sugar, 50 pcs of tea bags, and 200 pcs of instant noodles. In addition to orphanages, the groceries were also given to the locals of Pendrikan Kidul and Petompon.
The social service also involved numerous students awarded the KIP Scholarships from all faculties at Udinus. It also involved numerous representatives from student organizations on campus.
The Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs at Udinus added that the social service was a tangible commitment from Udinus to improve social welfare. Hopefully, through this social service, Udinus will become more popular within the public space.
“Through this event, students are encouraged to develop their sympathy and empathy for others. Hopefully, they will not only succeed academically but also become thoughtful individuals toward their surroundings,” she concluded.
