Volleyball athletes at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) have recently written a new page of history by winning the 2024 National Student Volleyball League (Livoma). The trophy would later be handed to Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., the Chancellor of Udinus, as a form of appreciation for the support provided by the campus.
This prideful moment was celebrated in the conference room located on the first floor of the H building. On that same occasion, the chancellor also expressed his pride for the success achieved by the volleyball athletes, as they improved the reputation of the campus on the national level.
Prof. Edi also advised the athletes to consistently practice and rekindle their athletic spirits. This is because, according to him, this success was not the end of their journey. Instead, it marked the beginning of a new section of their athletic careers.
“This success has not only contributed to the athletes but also to the academic community at Udinus for supporting them. This is not the end, keep up your hard work for the next major accomplishment. Udinus will always support you,” Prof. Edi concluded.
In addition to their athletic prowess, Prof. Edi also emphasized the importance of these athletes’ academic studies. He said that the athletes needed to balance both their careers and studies.
“Hopefully, our athletes do not only excel non-academically but also have some outstanding academic excellence as well. Being a student alone is already a big challenge, even more so if the student also happens to be an athlete. For that reason, we demand that our lecturers ensure that the athletes can maintain their GPA to be over 3.5. Thus, they can secure their future,” he uttered.
Being a Symbol of Pride for Their Campus
Prior to this, the Men’s Volleyball Team from Udinus had successfully won the Livoma 2024 , which took place at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The league ran competitively, and they managed to claim a victory over the opposing team at the finale, with a score of 3-1.
Louis Tavarel, one of the volleyball athletes from Udinus, expressed his pride for the success he and his team had previously achieved. According to him, this victory was attributed to the support given by the campus. Furthermore, Louis also revealed that their victory would not happen if it weren’t for the proper strategy and solidarity the team had.
“I’m proud of the fact that our victory brings a good reputation to Udinus. The campus has also supported us during our training and performance at the league. Hopefully, our fellow athletes from Udinus can accomplish more in various sports branches or events,” Louis concluded.
The trophy handover was also witnessed by other prominent figures and the academic community at Udinus.
