The Animation Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) held ‘Animcam’ as a part of the 2024 FIK Fair. The event was designed to give high school students an in-depth insight into animation, as well as introduce them to an advanced animating technique, namely, sculpting.
Andika Dwi Permana, the Head of the Animcam Committee, explained that this workshop aimed to hone participants’ skills in animating to face everlasting changes in the animation industry. Dozens of students from prominent high schools focusing on animation attended the event enthusiastically.
“Animcam is our work program in which high school students learn advanced animating techniques, including sculpting. Sculpting itself is a carving technique allowing animators to shape much more complex models,” Andika explained.
Animcam itself was held as a part of the 2024 FIK Fair. It would last for three days, from December 17 to 19, 2024. It took place in the Computer Lab located on the second floor of the D building at Udinus.
On a separate occasion, Dr. Khafiizh Hastuti, S.Kom., M.Kom., the Head of the Animation Department at Udinus, expressed her utmost gratitude to her students for hosting Animcam. She also hoped that the event would serve as a bridge between the educational and industrial sectors of animation. According to her, the workshop provided a general introduction to high school students about campus life.
“I hope the workshop can inspire high school students to keep honing their latent potentials to their limits,” Dr. Khafiizh explained.
In addition to the workshop, high school students were also encouraged to explore innovative works showcased by animation students at Udinus at the 2024 FIK Fair. The 2024 FIK Fair also involved students from other departments in the Computer Science Faculty at Udinus, and it also showcases products of creative collaborations, which have become characteristics of Udinus.
