The Dinus Open-Source Community of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted an inspirative event by facilitating high school students a web-creating training program. At the program, students were taught various new programs, which they had not learned before.

The program took place in the computer lab on the second floor of the D building at Udinus by using two classrooms located next to each other. Each classroom consisted of 20 participants, with Mohamad Aprilian Tanjung and Muhammad Ivan Rafsanjani being their mentors. The program was entitled ‘Open Source on the School,’ with the theme being ‘Let’s Dive Deep to Open Source.’

Harry LBI, the Committee Head of the Open Source on the School program, explained that the program was a part of a bigger event, namely, the 2024 FIK Fair. It aimed to teach students how to professionally create a website. On that occasion, the committee gave a training program encompassing Tailwind CSS, Git, and PJS Control System.

“Hopefully, they will be able to effortlessly create a website, and apply this knowledge at their respective schools. For the last two days, they were taught in-depth about those three programs,” Harry explained.

The majority of students came from high schools with website creation as a part of their curriculum. They were students of various high schools in Semarang.

As additional information, the 2024 FIK Fair featured exhibitions, workshops, and contests involving high school and college students. The main attraction of the fair was the contests, with most of them being hosted on the last day of the 2024 FIK Fair.

The 2024 FIK Fair spanned three days, from December 17 to 19, 2024. It took place in the H building at Udinus. The fair involved all student organizations in the Computer Science Faculty at Udinus.

During his opening speech at the 2024 FIK Fair, Dr. Ahmad Zainul Fanani, S.Si., M.Kom., the Vice Dean I of the Computer Science Faculty at Udinus, hoped for the 2024 FIK Fair to bridge the gap between high school students and the realm of academics at the Computer Science Faculty of Udinus.

“This is a golden opportunity for high school students to know our products, innovations, and departments. Meanwhile, through this fair, our students will also be able to show their magnificent works to the public. Hopefully, high school students will be motivated to be a part of Udinus and innovate with us someday,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
